Job Summary:

The test engineer will focus on device, components, sub-assembly, and assembly testing. These efforts will lead to the achievement of customer testing requirements and compliance with national and international standards for space applications.

Job Responsibilities:

• Work cross-functionally with manufacturing, engineering, and R&D to meet cost, quality, and delivery goals
• Assist in authoring testing procedures for the purpose of meeting military or commercial regulatory requirements
• Assist in defining, developing, and implementing new tests. This includes custom software development for instrumentation control, data handling, and data processing
• Continuously evaluate operating methods for opportunities to improve testing capabilities and processes.
• Perform test procedures as assigned for devices, components, and assemblies/modules
• Analyze test data and provide regular progress reports
• Assist in developing and implementing tests and testing procedures for reliability programs
• Assist in failure analysis efforts with the FA team

Experience and Technical Skills Required:

• An active hands-on approach is critical to this position
• Possess good oral and written communication skills, good organizational skills, and the ability to work with limited supervision

A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required
• 2-5 years of experience in testing of optical, optoelectronic, and/or electronic devices and components
• Proficient in Matlab
• Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures
• Knowledge of semiconductor optoelectronic devices. Specifically SOA a plus
• Demonstrated ability to read, understand and write technical procedures, specification, and training materials preferred

Education, License, Certification Required:

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related field
• Ability to obtain DoD security clearance
