Reliability and Test Engineer

Job Summary:

The Reliability and Test Engineer will focus on the development and implementation of product specific reliability testing, optoelectronic parametric testing, lot qualification, metrology, and quality monitoring. An emphasis will be on the achievement of customer requirements and compliance with national and international standards for space applications.


Job Responsibilities:


  • Execute reliability testing and parametric testing while maintaining capability including hardware, software, data analysis and data retention
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering and R&D, to meet cost, quality and delivery goals
  • Author manufacturing procedures and specifications, including verification and validation testing activities, for the purpose of meeting military or commercial regulatory requirements
  • Implement lean manufacturing and statistical process controls including process capability and control charts
  • Execute verification and validation test plans for the purpose of implementing new processes and process improvements and all other device improvements
  • Use lean / six sigma tools to improve manufacturing processes, drive cycle time reduction and automation where applicable
  • Develop and conduct training and process planning procedures, select controls and process metrology, and continuously evaluate operating methods
  • Coordinate with Device Engineering to develop functional specs and lead the entire product life cycle, including proposing process improvements, and creating documentation to meet customer requirements
  • Coordinate failure analysis efforts with the FA team

Experience and Technical Skills Required:


  • An active hands-on approach to technology development is critical to this position, especially as it relates to optoelectronic devices
  • Possess good oral and written communication skills, good organizational skills, and the ability to work with limited supervision
  • Highly motivated, proactive, detail-oriented, and dedicated
  • Work well in a team oriented environment
  • 5+ years of experience in product or manufacturing development in a hi-tech environment
  • Knowledge of VCSEL and PIN semiconductor optoelectronic devices
  • Understanding of reliability modeling and prediction
  • Experience in optoelectronic or microelectronic device fabrication and characterization
  • Have demonstrated ability to read, understand and write technical procedures, specification, and training materials

Education, License, Certification Required:


  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Ability to obtain DoD security clearance
  • US Person Only
  • References Required

Physical Requirements:

    Physical health must be sufficient to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position.

Reporting Relationship:

    Reports directly to the Reliability and Test Engineering Lead
