Job Summary:

The Director of Manufacturing will have full accountability for the manufacturing of optoelectronic transceiver modules at OptiComp Corporation. This task will include guiding the company transition from research and development to commercial production. The successful candidate should be able to communicate and operate across departments within the organization since the role requires inputs and outputs to and from other departments.

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage and supervise the production team in day-to-day operations, specifically providing direction, guidance, and priorities to the team, as well as helping to establish and monitor daily production performance metrics and data.
• Mentor mid-level managers and production personnel through the transition from R&D into commercial production.
• Develop product requirements and specifications in coordination with engineering to meet customer requirements.
• Develop and manage a direct manufacturing cost structure, with the goal of overall cost reduction.
• Hiring, maintaining, and managing the manufacturing labor force.
• Coordinate with project leads to establish priority for manufacturing resource allocation.
• Plan and direct the layout of equipment, workflow, and work force utilization.
• Develop a reporting system for recommendations to the Chief Executive Officer that can be presented to offer improvements for the department and company.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• An active hands-on approach ro technology development is critical to this position
• Possess good oral and written communication skills, good organizational skills, and the ability to lead and direct the work of a large and diverse team.
• Work well in a team oriented environment.

Experience and Technical Skills Required:

• 7+ years of management experience in high-tech product or manufacturing development.
• Extensive knowledge of optoelectronic product development.
• Experience in optoelectronic or microelectronic device fabrication and characterization

Education, License, Certification Required:

• Bachelors of Science degree required, strong preference for Engineering or MBA.
• Ability to obtain DoD security clearance.

Physical Requirements:

Physical health must be sufficient to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position.

Reporting Relationship:

Reports directly to Chief Executive Officer
