Mr. Peter Guilfoyle

Chairman and President, Mr. Guilfoyle founded OptiComp in 1987 and has focused the Company's optoelectronic technology towards digital high-speed optical interconnects, switching and data processing applications. In addition to designing and fabricating a second generation, 32-bit digital optoelectronic computer (DOC II), OptiComp also developed a High Performance Optoelectronic Computing (HPOC) module system architecture utilizing global (N4), free space optical interconnects which has transitioned to the architectures of today. He has been the Principal Investigator on the Massively Parallel Optical Interconnect (MPOI) program since 2004, with programs from the Air Force Research Laboratory, DARPA, MDA, Boeing and the Naval Air Systems Command. Currently OptiComp Corporation employees 52 engineers, scientists, and foundry personnel focused on the implementation terabit optoelectronic datacom switching and routing fabrics for deployment in space, avionics and ground based facilities for DoD. Both single and multimode CWDM (coarse wavelength division multiplex) point-to-point and bi-directional modules are delivered for optimum implementation of these architectures. The GaAs/InP/dielectric foundry is currently being ISO 9001 certified. All devices are fabricated per space qualification. The Company has been awarded three Roland Tibbetts Award for its ability to foster technology development and transfer it into the marketplace. Mr. Guilfoyle also received the LEOS Distinguished Lecturer Award, the Gunnerman Silver State Scientist Award for Excellence in Science and Technology, and the Nevada Inventor of the Year. He currently holds 17 patents and has published over 100 technical papers. Mr. Guilfoyle earned a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and a Fellow Member of the Optical Society of America. |
