Mr. Peter Guilfoyle

Chairman and President, Mr. Guilfoyle founded OptiComp in 1987 and has focused the Company's optoelectronic technology towards digital high-speed switching and data processing applications. In addition to designing and fabricating a second generation, 32-bit digital optoelectronic computer (DOC II) which was completed in 1994, Mr. Guilfoyle also developed a High Performance Optoelectronic Computing (HPOC) module system architecture utilizing global (N4), free space optical interconnects. In 1996, 1998 and 2000, the Company won the Roland Tibbetts Award for its ability to foster technology development and transfer it into the marketplace. In addition, Mr. Guilfoyle was awarded the LEOS Distinguished Lecturer Award for 1994/1995. He has been the Principal Investigator on the Massively Parallel Optical Interconnect (MPOI) program since 2000, with programs from the Air Force Research Laboratory, DARPA, MDA, Boeing and the Naval Air Systems Command. He was awarded the Gunnerman Silver State Scientist Award for Excellence in Science and Technology in 2001, and the Nevada Inventor of the Year in 2001. He currently holds 12 patents and has published over 100 technical papers. Mr. Guilfoyle earned a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and a Fellow Member of the Optical Society of America.
